Ann Kingstone is a talented British knitwear designer who is based in Yorkshire. Ann's designs are inspired by the history, literature and traditions of her native country and its neighbours. A love of the technology of the knitting process has lead her to interpret these using the most up-to-date hand-knitting techniques.

At NYE Ann will be teaching two fabulous workshops that focus on Celtic Cabling and Steeking techniques.


Celtic Cabling Workshop with Ann Kingstone

Saturday 11th November, 9:00am until 12 noon

Ann will guide you effortlessly through the intricacies of re-creating Celtic knots in your cabled knits. You will use advanced techniques for increasing and decreasing, as well as methods for working cables without a cable needle.

During the class you will make a Celtic cabled square, which can be incorporated into a blanket or cushion cover.

For the class you will need to bring along some Aran weight yarn and 5mm needles.

Steeking Workshop with Ann Kingstone

Saturday 11th November, 1:00pm until 4:00pm

In this fabulous workshop you will learn:

  • A variety of steeking stitch patterns.
  • How to set a steek before cutting it.
  • Several options for reinforcing a steek.
  • How to pick up stitches from a steeked opening.
  • How to apply icord to a steeked opening.
  • Options for finishing a steek.

You will also need to complete some homework for this workshop, this will be sent to you on confirmation of booking.
