Clare Devine discovered her passion for knitting as she wandered along the trails of the Bibbulmun track in Western Australia back in 2011. Since then, wherever she’s wandered she’s taken her yarn and a pair of pointy sticks with her.

Originally from South Africa, Clare was born with a wandering spirit and has spent most of her adult life on the move. After immersing herself in the wonderful Scottish knitting scene she started moving south, first to near London and then on to Melbourne, Australia – her new home.

She is passionate about creating beautiful designs that inspire knitters to try new techniques and expand their knitting repertoire. Clare has shared her love of knitting, through workshops in Scotland, England and Australia. She believes there is something uniquely wonderful about a group of knitters coming together to develop new skills and share their passion for fibre craft.

When she is not knitting Clare can be found, fulfilling her two other creative passions, writing about knitting or taking photographs of knitting.

Heels and Toes Workshop with Clare Devine

 Sunday 12th November, 1:00pm until 4:00pm

The class contains a mixture of technical information, practical hands on measuring and knitting time to explore the shaping of heels and toes.

You will also be provided with a comprehensive handout that contains many heel and toe options that you can use to adjust patterns to suit your foot shape.

Skills required: the ability to knit in the round, basic knowledge of sock construction (you need to have knitted at least one pair of socks to benefit from taking this class)

Advanced beginner / intermediate and above

Materials that you will need to bring along:

About 50g of DK wool to knit samples.

(Clare would recommend selecting something that has a high wool content, is light in colour, tightly spun and smooth. This makes it easiest to read your knitting and see what is happening.)

3.5mm needles suitable for knitting in the round (Clare is happy for students to use DPNs or a long circular needle for magic loop. She would advise against the small 9in circular needles for this class. )

Stitch markers (lockable stitch markers in a few different colours.)

Darning needle / tapestry needle for Kitchener Stitch.

Tape Measure

Please note: you will need a valid market place ticket for the day of the workshop.
