Morphing Cables Workshop

MORPHING CABLES
Intermediate
Fiona is famous for her morphing cables….cables that change and become other patterns. In this workshop she will show you the basic principles of how to get started designing your own cables. Even if you are not an advanced cable knitter, give it a try. Simple patterns can morph and create unique ideas. If you love cables but find working vertical patterns too repetitive and want to heighten the challenge, this workshop is a must!
Materials: ball of light coloured medium weight yarn, yarn appropriate needles, cable
needle, squared paper.

Workshops are 3 hours long

Sunday 17th November, 9am start.

Laddered Openwork Workshop

Laddered Openwork Workshop

Intermediate and beyond. You have the following knitting skills mastered: casting on, knit, purl, left and right slanting increases and decreases, yarnovers and are able to "read your knitting" (you can look at a stitch and tell if it is knitted or purled.)

It's hard to describe Fiona's latest knitting technique, except to say that it's fascinating. Using dropped stitches, Fiona creates a new space in knitted fabric for openwork designs. In this workshop, Fiona will teach you how to plan and create "safe" spaces to ladder down stitches, influence the direction of your laddered spaces, meander and work around other stitch patterns and details in your knitting and add embroidery to create stunning openwork designs. You will come away with the burning desire (and know-how) to add this technique to your current projects. Fiona will also show you some of her latest designs showcasing laddered openwork designs such as Adelina and Spadina.

Workshops are 3 hours long

Sunday 17th November 1pm start.
